Great post James and i really hope someone follows up on it, the idea of casting on a grass venue means accommodation and the other site logistics can be the priority in the venue choice to keep costs down and convenience up. ,
That wind lottery is ( from an outside) the biggest noise in grouches on the present system before the price hike. Why not try a European to start with and see how it goes. Surely somewhere like Belgium is pretty central for most european casters to get too at a reasonable cost, for instance you can get a 5 night in a chalet park with a couple of bedrooms and a kitchen for £350, maybe you could block book a say 20 of them for a cheaper fee. Find a nearby sport field and take it from there.
If anyone does do it ...you have your first volunteer time keeper!
